Steve Dimopoulos MP. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events

On behalf of the Victorian Government, I’d like to welcome you to the 2023 Gippsland Rally, the fourth round of the Australian Rally Championship.

This is Australia’s premier off-road motor rally competition, and we’re proud to support this event through our Significant Sporting Events Program, which helps organisations to deliver national, international, or regionally significant sporting events.

Since 2014, the Program has secured more than 610 events for Victoria, with more than half staged in regional Victoria, boosting local jobs and economies, and showcasing our regions.

Over three days, our nation’s best rally drivers will tackle a challenging course that takes them through the heart of Wellington Shire including the historic towns of Maffra, Cowwarr and Stockdale.

Having passed the halfway mark in the championship, the Gippsland Rally will help shape the leaderboard ahead of the final rounds, ensuring some intense racing action.

While our drivers may be going a little too fast to enjoy the stunning scenery, this picturesque part of Victoria will provide an amazing backdrop for the rally.

There are so many things to see while you’re here, including our world-famous Gippsland lakes and forests and please explore the sights and sounds of the many towns that dot the course routes.

For visitors to our wonderful state, I encourage you to also explore the many attractions and wonderful food and wine options Gippsland has to offer.

I wish you all the best for your time here.
